2017 in Review

2017 has been an amazing year. We gained a ton of momentum.

We’ve spent a long time laying a foundation for HelloSign’s platform, and this was the year we could see everything really come together in a powerful way. We now have multiple products working together: HelloSign, HelloSign API, HelloWorks, HelloFax, and the HelloFax API.

We’re making progress towards our mission of simplifying work, by automating businesses’ most important workflows.

In keeping with tradition (this is my third year writing an annual recap!), here are a few of the things we were most excited about in 2017:


Everything we do is for you – the customer. Thanks for partnering with us on this journey and being a part of what makes us a company. Thank you for your feedback, your tweets, your enthusiasm and even your patience, as we build out your requests. We couldn’t do it without you.

Awesome Team

We grew a ton across all departments this year and we’re going to do it again next year.

Among the talented hires, we have a great new VP of Engineering and VP of HR. We also welcomed our largest HelloSign onboarding “class” at the end of November – 6 new faces started on the same day! We’ve also significantly beefed up our engineering team so that we can accelerate building new and exciting functionality for you.

Series B

We raised $16 million! We’re thrilled to be working with Ryan McIntryre from Foundry Group, who recently joined our board and has been an amazing partner.

How are we investing the funding? The TLDR is we’re investing even more in our customers, extending up market to support larger enterprises, and we have some serious innovation coming down the pipeline. You can read more about it here.

HelloSign in Enterprise

When HelloSign was in its early stages, we catered to individuals and small businesses. These customers are still very much a part of our DNA, but we’ve also extended our attention to the Enterprise. Large enterprises have a ton of inefficient workflow and processes – and we’re working towards making them as seamless as possible. By taking away all of that friction, all that waste of time and energy, all those distractions – we’re helping companies move faster.

We supported our Enterprise customers this year by investing in things like SAML and SSO, a more advanced Salesforce integration, advanced signing tools, SOC 2 and HIPAA compliance and much, much more. We’re going to keep adding higher degrees of control, functionality, and compliance that support larger and larger teams while maintaining a maniacal focus on ease of use. And, with our funding, we’re going to be adding those things at a much higher velocity.

New Product: HelloWorks!

Our latest product, HelloWorks, was the catalyst for a lot of the momentum this past year. When we launched in March, we had a feeling that it was going to be be a big deal. Turns out it has resonated with customers even more than we suspected.

Instacart experienced a 270% improvement in speed for contractors to complete hiring/onboarding processes after integrating HelloWorks. And they saw very significant improvements in the number of people that fully complete those processes, which means more and faster hiring of shoppers. That’s a direct, positive impact on Instacart’s revenue. Imagine if every company could benefit from that kind of completion rate and how that’d impact how we work together as a society.

New (and Expanded!) Partnerships

We also made big strides with our partners. Over the last year, we launched a new and improved version of our SFDC integration, we were a launch partner for the new Salesforce’s Essentials product, and we partnered with Team Informatics to bring HelloSign to Oracle WebCenter Content. These are all in addition to our existing integrations with products like Box, Dropbox, Google Drive and more.

We’ll continue to bring HelloSign to all your favorite applications and platforms, so keep an eye out.

New Office

We’re building a platform that’s sole purpose is to simplify work by automating businesses’ most important transactions.

Imagine a world where you don’t feel this crushing mental overhead of paperwork, paper pushing, data entry, pinching/zooming PDFs on your mobile device, or filling things out incorrectly. In this world you only worked on the core challenges that make you successful. It would be incredible, right? That’s the end state.

We’re simplifying work so that painful processes disappear into the background, and you get to focus on what you do best.

What will you see us doing?

  • Going Enterprise by supporting the needs of larger and larger teams.
  • Planning for global expansion
  • Innovating for the future, where many workflows won’t be PDF-centric.
  • Building stronger and deeper partnerships, so you’ll see HelloSign wherever your documents are located  
  • Building stronger ties between our product suite so you, the customer, will get the benefits of an all-in-one solution that you can’t get anywhere else.
